Case Study: Capturing the Essence of Ormonde Jayne with the Freefly Ember High Speed Camera

At Lux, we pride ourselves on our ability to blend creativity and technology to bring our clients' visions to life. Our recent collaboration with Ormonde Jayne for the launch of their Vanille Des Afriques Intensivo fragrance presented the perfect opportunity to showcase our capabilities. Leveraging the cutting-edge Freefly Ember high-speed camera, we crafted a visually stunning video narrative that beautifully captured the luxurious essence of this exceptional scent.

The Challenge: Translating Scent to Visuals

Ormonde Jayne entrusted us with the task of portraying the rich, intricate notes of their new fragrance, Vanille Des Afriques Intensivo. The challenge was to translate the sensory experience of smell into a compelling visual story that would resonate with viewers and evoke the luxurious and exotic nature of the scent.

The Solution: Freefly Ember High-Speed Camera

To meet this challenge, we turned to the revolutionary Freefly Ember high-speed camera. Known for its unparalleled ability to capture incredible detail at high frame rates, the Ember was the ideal choice for this project. Its advanced capabilities allowed us to slow down movements of the organza and the product and showcase the fluidity and complexity of the fragrance in ways that traditional cameras could not.

Although the Phantom High-Speed cameras can shoot at 1000 frames per second (fps) in 4K, the Ember shoots at 4K resolution at 800 fps. The built-in 4TB internal SSD of the Ember provides our production team with significant freedom and continuous flexibility, allowing us to shoot with much smoother operations and making little to no sacrifice in terms of quality. This combination of high-speed capabilities and practical functionality enabled us to capture the essence of Vanille Des Afriques Intensivo in extraordinary detail.

The Production: A Creative Journey

Our creative journey began with a deep dive into the essence of Vanille Des Afriques Intensivo. Working closely with the team from Ormonde Jayne, we explored the luxurious African vanilla notes and the exotic ingredients that make this fragrance unique. This understanding informed our approach to the video narrative, ensuring that every visual element aligned with the fragrance's story.

Using the Freefly Ember, we were able to capture every detail of the fragrance's fluid motion. The high-speed footage allowed us to slow down and highlight the subtle interactions between the fragrance's components. Each droplet, swirl, and movement of the organza was filmed in breathtaking detail, creating a mesmerising visual representation of the scent's richness and depth.

The Execution: Precision and Artistry

The Freefly Ember's high-speed capabilities were instrumental in achieving the desired visual effects. We meticulously planned and executed each shot, ensuring that the camera movements and lighting perfectly complemented the fragrance's luxurious character. The Ember's ability to capture up to 800 frames per second enabled us to create slow-motion sequences that emphasised the elegance and fluidity of the perfume.

Our team worked closely with Ormonde Jayne to ensure that the final video not only met but exceeded their expectations. From the initial concept to the final edit, every aspect of the production was a collaborative effort, blending our technical expertise with their deep knowledge of the fragrance.

The Result: A Captivating Visual Narrative

The final video for Vanille Des Afriques Intensivo is a testament to the power of combining innovative technology with creative vision. The high-speed footage captured by the Freefly Ember allowed us to create a visually stunning narrative that perfectly encapsulates the luxurious and exotic essence of the fragrance.

Viewers are transported into a world where every droplet of the perfume tells a story, and every swirl of the fragrance invites them to experience the richness of African vanilla. The slow-motion sequences add a layer of sophistication and elegance, making the video a true reflection of Ormonde Jayne's brand and the unique character of Vanille Des Afriques Intensivo.

Conclusion: The Future of High-Speed Cinematography

Our experience with the Freefly Ember high-speed camera has reaffirmed our belief in the power of advanced technology to elevate creative projects. At Lux, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in video production, and our work with Ormonde Jayne is a shining example of this commitment.

As we look to the future, we are excited to continue exploring new technologies and techniques to bring our clients' visions to life. The success of the Vanille Des Afriques Intensivo campaign has set a new standard for what can be achieved with high-speed cinematography, and we are eager to build on this momentum in our upcoming projects.
